The actor Ghazal Siddique shared her own experiences with pets and the guilt she feels when she’s unable to care for them the way they deserve. “When I was in Pakistan before I moved to Canada, I had a cat whose name was Mithi. When I left, I had to give that cat away to someone,” said Ghazal. “That really broke my heart.”
The Chand Tara actor revealed that she chose not to adopt a pet while she was living abroad because it would have been difficult to give it attention while taking care of everything else. She did however adopt one once she moved back to Pakistan. “I adopted a sweet six-week-old kitten and named her Mokie, but right after that I started working on a drama. When I got her, I did not know I’d be working so soon after,” she said.
“I would give her food in the mornings and leave for work, and the only people in my house are me and my husband, so there was no one else there to take of her,” stated the actor. “When I would get back home after work, she would be sitting there waiting for me”
Ghazal expressed the guilt she felt over neglecting the young kitten. “This continued for two to three days, and my guilt just kept on increasing because I then realized that the drama I was working on would go on for the next four to five months. She would have to go on waiting for me like this for that long.”
To free herself of this guilt and give the kitten a better home, Ghazal revealed she gave Mokie to another actor in the industry. “She is now a big healthy adult cat, and they have named her Caramel.”
Ghazal ended her story with a message for viewers, “Pets are conscious creatures. They require your time and care. If you are unable to give them these things, then please do not keep them.“
